I do love the idea of different colored pens. It sure would have been less painful in life, had they corrected with a little less anger of red. Such a great metaphor too, tying in the editing of writing with observing in the real world. Choosing our colored pens when interacting with another or offering advice, great lesson for all. Then there is the invisible link...I love this idea.

Personally, I've almost stopped writing numerous times because of mean or critical comments. I'd prefer the green or blue pen and If I choose, get out my black light to read the invisible comments! Thank you Kim for this piece. :)
