It is a difficult situation, when dealing with insecure or emotionally immature people. Treading lightly, avoiding their feelings, is often a disservice as you say. My experience, not many people want to hear the truth. We carry on, remaining true to self. What happens next, we release any attachment to the circumstance...as painful or joyful as it may be.
