I recall going to my parents for nurturing, maybe even some advice, as how to handle a situation with our kids.
What was meant for dialogue for parent and child, turned into a scolding. Looking for comfort, I received chastise and other words. At thirty-three, I quit going to my parents with matters of self-understanding. Maybe they lack the ability to face their own, allowing others to speak their truths, without turning it around and making it all about them.
